Which Canon lenses are waterproof?
First of all, tho there may be lenses advertised as a waterproof lens, I sure wouldn’t trust it unless there was some proof. Lenses are weather sealed. This mean they have some level of protection against water, humidity and dust. Not that they could survive a swim in the river.
Note that not all lenses have the same level of protection. Those in bold are said to have a basic level of protection while the others should be able to resist hostile environment, the long telephoto lenses being the best.
Note: If you install a weather sealed lens on a body that is not weather sealed, the lens mount section will be vulnerable.

Could you do the same list for Nikon lenses?

LikeDislikeIf I might add, a UV filter MUST be attached to complete the weather sealing…

Who wants a filter on the end of their lens anyway? Lenses are tools, when they break you must go buy a replacement. You don’t want to lower optic quality to put on something that *may* protect your lens.

LikeDislikeJosh: While I agree with you in theory, you have to keep in mind that for some people, a L lens is worth a few month of saving and they may be getting the L lens for indoor studio/indoor shooting so when going out, they may put lens safety first and IQ second.
Until you can actually make money out of your lenses, I think this is the reasonable approach to go. Unless you can afford the loss, of course!
